Banker by Day, Self Defense Instructor by Night, Associate Helps Survivors of Domestic Violence

Regions is donating $1,000 to Dove’s domestic violence program in honor of Better Life Award recipient.

Nalini Tailor is a woman with a plan. Years ago, she visited the United States from South Africa with a goal of meeting the man of her dreams – a family friend she had only seen in a photo.

Nalini met him in New York City. He proposed two hours later. They celebrated their 30th anniversary this year.

Another one of Nalini’s plans: To become a trusted banker. She achieved that goal, too. As a Branch Team Leader in Decatur, Illinois, Nalini listens to customer needs and finds solutions to meet those needs. Many small business owners, retirees and other customers credit Nalini for their financial success.

In 2008, Nalini retired from competing as a black belt in Karate, but made a plan to keep using her martial arts gifts. Ever since, she has taught self-defense classes for Dove, Inc., a nonprofit organization that supports families affected by domestic violence. Regions is donating $1,000 to Dove’s domestic violence program in honor of Nalini’s Better Life Award.

Nalini is also an ambassador for the Central Illinois Indian community. She has served as president of the Decatur India Association for the past seven years, and as president of the Sai Center Hindu temple for the past two years. She organizes special events, speaks to community groups and encourages support of Indian cultural initiatives.

When she’s not creating plans to help customers succeed, protect victims from domestic violence or promote cultural inclusion, Nalini finds special ways to recharge – a long motorcycle ride with her husband, an overseas flight to see family in South Africa, or quality time at home with her son. All parts of her plan to enjoy her wonderful life.
