TAMPA, Fla. – Aug. 8, 2018 – Regions Bank on Wednesday announced Michael Jones has been appointed to serve as Commercial Banking Leader and Market Executive for the bank in Tampa and surrounding communities in Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk Counties.
As Commercial Banking Leader, Jones will direct highly experienced Tampa-area teams that deliver complex and customized financial solutions for large companies and major employers throughout the area.
Further, as Market Executive, Jones will collaborate with local teams from Regions’ Consumer Banking division, Private Wealth Management division, and other departments within the company, to identify opportunities for Regions and its associates to make a meaningful difference in response to local needs. Through volunteer service, nonprofit support, delivering financial education, and more, Jones and Regions’ Tampa-area teams will consistently reflect the company’s commitment to meeting clients’ needs while also supporting the broader community.
“Regions Bank is focused on working closely with local customers and listening to the needs of our communities as we deliver financial services and community engagement that are designed to make a real and valuable difference,” said John Turner, Regions President and CEO. “Michael has successfully served Regions and its clients for over 20 years. His experience, combined with the expertise of our entire team of local bankers, will help Regions strengthen its focus on this vibrant community. We have tremendous potential to build on our growth in Tampa and beyond, and we our proud that Michael will be leading the collaboration of our local teams.”
Jones joined Regions, then known as AmSouth Bank, in January 1998 as Residential Construction Manager. He later moved into a series of Business Banking, Credit, and Commercial Banking management roles and has held positions of increasing responsibility over time. Most recently, he served in a regional capacity at Regions’ headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., where he was Executive Vice President and Commercial Banking Support Executive working with teams serving business clients in several states, including those here in Tampa.
“Tampa is a community like no other, and I believe Regions and its local teams can meet the needs of our clients and communities like no other bank,” Jones said. “Our bankers have deep roots in this city, and we understand the opportunities and challenges affecting our local customers. At the same time, we are backed by the resources of a strong bank that has grown in terms of capabilities and talent in a way that rivals much larger firms. I am honored to lead the collaboration of our local teams, and together, we are excited to build on Regions’ legacy of outstanding service to this area.
Jones and local leaders from all of Regions’ business groups will focus their teams on reaching the objectives of Regions360, the bank’s comprehensive approach to meeting customers’ needs. Through Regions360, the company’s bankers learn the unique goals of each customer and collaborate with colleagues from Regions’ various banking departments to develop holistic solutions.
“Our teams are committed to exceeding the expectations of our customers, and our fellow community members, as we serve and support this area,” Jones said. “By working hand-in-hand across all departments, Regions will consistently grow and excel, not only in customer service, but also in community engagement.”
