Regions Honors Barbara Brown with January Better Life Award

Devoted volunteer continued to help others amid great personal loss last year.

Barbara Brown lost her mother last February, and her husband passed away last May. Nevertheless, she continued to offer her presence — and even presents — to those in her community who needed them most.

The faculty and students of Lipscomb Elementary School, located just outside the city of Birmingham, were beneficiaries of her kindness. She organized a back-to-school supply drive for them, recruited donors and volunteers for their fall festival, and supported an angel tree program that provided Christmas gifts for needy families. Regions is donating $1,000 to Lipscomb Elementary in honor of Brown’s Better Life Award.

Regions has also benefitted from her gifts the past 35 years. That’s how long she has been a part of the mortgage team. She will retire in March.

Brown’s team members say they will miss her laser-like focus on risk and ability to make plain the many complexities of compliance. But, what they may remember above all is her devotion to make life better for others despite challenges she faced in her own life.

See her story and see why Barbara Brown is the January 2017 winner of the Better Life Award.
