BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Feb. 26, 2019 – Regions Financial Corp. is among the 100 Most Sustainable U.S. Companies as ranked by Barron’s, a leading global publication covering business and finance. The rankings issued this month were developed in conjunction with Calvert Research and Management.
Calvert graded 1,000 public companies based on hundreds of metrics addressing environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors. Regions made the 100 Most Sustainable list for the first time, ranking 75th overall and 7th among retail banks on the list.
In creating the rankings, Calvert considered topics such as board structure and business ethics, community engagement, workplace diversity, and product quality and marketing. Further, researchers considered environmental policies, including those related to greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
“Regions has a longstanding and deep commitment to operating responsibly, and this is rooted in our mission of making life better while creating shared value for the people, businesses and communities we serve,” said Hope Mehlman, Chief Governance Officer and Assistant Corporate Secretary for Regions Financial. “Over the past year, we have taken meaningful steps to advance our ESG practices and disclosures, and it is rewarding to see that we are being recognized for these efforts.”
