Anne Silvestri does a remarkable job of balancing work, family life and community service. Silvestri, a top corporate banker for diversified industries in St. Louis, will celebrate 31 years with Regions Bank this month. She is also a devoted mother, who tirelessly cares for her adult daughter with special needs. Even with her very involved work and home responsibilities, Silvestri finds time to serve others.
For nearly 18 years, Silvestri has volunteered with Easter Seals Midwest, a nonprofit organization that strives to help people with disabilities live within the community as independently as possible.
She has organized walk-a-thons and fundraisers, and coordinated administrative and outreach activities for the organization.
“What drew us to help Easter Seals is that we’ve learned and seen what they’ve done for so many people in the area,” Silvestri said. “When our daughter received help from them, we experienced it first-hand.”
Silvestri is also involved with equine-assisted activities therapies for individuals with special needs. She supports Autism Speaks, the Ronald McDonald House, and the St. Louis ARC for children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities.
“I hope my community involvement will raise awareness for people with disabilities and hope it will make life better for them and their families,” Silvestri said. I am grateful for all the good things that the people before me have done, which inspired me to do for those behind me.”
Noting her devotion to give of her time and talents, despite challenges, Regions presented Silvestri the Better Life Award on Wednesday. The Better Life Award is the top honor given to a Regions associate for outstanding dedication and job performance, as well as exemplary involvement and commitment to the community.
Together with the Better Life Award recognition, Regions donates $1,000 in the name of the recipient to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice. Silvestri chose Easter Seals Midwest because of her work with the organization.
“I’m honored to receive this award,” Silvestri said. “I’m thrilled that this gift will help Easter Seals grow their programs and provide for the people they serve.”
