Welcome Home: At Age 70, Vietnam Veteran Gets His Dream Home

Ronnie Pierce grew up in Tennessee dreaming of one house in a familiar neighborhood. In honor of National Homeownership Month, see how Pierce’s dream came true.

As a child, Ronnie Pierce rode his bicycle up and down the streets of his hometown of Dyersburg, Tenn. One modest brick house on a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood would usually catch his eye.

Pierce is now 70 years old. He’s a veteran of the Vietnam War. Fighting for his country as a young man, he sustained a critical wound. Doctors said he might not make it back home.

Even the Army’s best doctors underestimated him.

He made it home, and he made a good life. Now, alongside his wife Annie, Pierce is back on the same tree-lined street of his youth, eyeing the same modest house that always had his attention. He called it his dream home then.

Decades later, it’s where the Pierces plan to spend the rest of their lives. The dream home is their home – the first they’ve ever owned.

Spend a few minutes watching this video, and see how Ronnie Pierce and Regions Mortgage Banker Scotty Mayfield made this dream come true.

You can follow us throughout the next month as Regions Mortgage, Corporate Advocacy and Corporate Marketing launch “Welcome Home,” a multi-faceted campaign highlighting the bank’s efforts around home ownership.
